In addition to the data source listed above, the basic information of rice germplasm was also collected from the following public databases:
CNRRI and
CGRIS.
The redundant germplasm items were merged which were identified based on variety name, accession ID, variety group and breeding parent. Now a total of 130578 Oryza sativa (Asian cultivated rice) and 1730 Oryza glaberrima (African cultivated rice) germplasms were stored in the database.
|
In the database, 115975 Oryza sativa germplasms have classic variety group information. This grouping follows the IRRI standards which are based mainly on the morphologic features.
Hybrid and Sterile accessions that do not belong to the classification system are listed separately.

Besides, based on SNP phylogenetic analyses, the accessions in WGS population have been classified into two major groups - Indica and Japonica, and five small groups - the Aus/boro, Basmati/sadri, Temperate japonicas, Tropical japonicas and Intermediate. Subsequent population structure analysis follows this classification method.
